During the role-playing, students playing the role of nursing students teach those playing the role of first-year elementary school students how to make an origami of Pikachu. The present study aimed to clarify the learning effects of role-playing-based seminars, and obtain educational suggestions. Data on students’ improved understanding were extracted from reports made after their seminar, and they were analyzed using a qualitative and inductive approach. As a result, 8 categories were extracted regarding the improved understanding of students playing the role of nursing students. They considered ways to [provide children with easy-to-understand explanations], [help children demonstrate their strengths], and [create pleasures], and [experienced the difficulty of teaching children]. Concerning the improved understanding of students playing the role of children, 6 categories were extracted. They also considered ways to [provide children with easy-to-understand explanations], [help children demonstrate their strengths], and [create pleasures], and discovered issues [leading to future learning].
