Patients diagnosed with head and neck cancer who underwent radiation therapy and chemotherapy. During semi-structured interviews, participants freely discussed topics concerning their life experiences and feelings toward struggles with the disease. The analysis was conducted using qualitative content analysis, and the results were then coded and categorized. Participants were five men with an initial diagnosis of cancer.The mean age was 59.8 years old. The interviews identified the following six categories for treatment experiences: [uncertainty before treatment], [regained motivation for recovery], [adjustment to changes for independence], [adapting to changes in diet], [awareness of death], and [appreciation and kindness toward family members]. During treatment, it is important to implement nursing interventions which would enable patients to experience positive changes and enhance their self-efficacy.
