This study aims to clarify the features of community cafes set up to prevent isolation among senior citizens during the COVID-19 pandemic. The study adopted a qualitative research method and used participant observation and interviews as survey methods. Qualitative coding was used for analysis, revealing the following: “to gain peace of mind” and “to share the enjoyment” were reasons and outcomes cited for senior citizens to use community cafes; “empathy with and support for enjoyment for senior citizens” and “organizing the performance of tasks” were the reasons for locals to continue volunteering at said cafes;
