Three hundred thirty-one non-demented older adults were recruited from2,129 older adults who were certified as 'Care reQuired' or 'Assistance reQuired' in long-term care insurance (LTC) in their city of residence. A total of 227 answers were collected (response rate 80.6%). Supporter role was operationally defined as \"frequency to provide instrumental andemotional support to others\" and was measured by a 10-item original scale. Multivariate logistic regression analysis demonstrated that female gender, large social network, high level of IADL independence, and perceived financial resources significantly associated with a decreased risk of \"inactivity\" . These findings suggest the necessity of assisting care-reQuired (assisted) elderly to obtain and maintain their support role, leading to prevention of infirmity and
