The results showed that, while practice, research, and education were considered the main roles at OPU, education, pastoral, tutorial instruction, and curriculum development were found to be the main roles in Bangor. In order to promote the integration of theory and practice, teachers at OPU tried to link theory clinical experiences, and develop collaborative research projects with the nurses in both hospital and community settings, while in bangor lecturers made efforts to make practice easier understand by using theory and also by maintaining a closer liaison lecturer practitioners. As for assessment of clinical practice, it was the teachers' role so no standard evaluation system or protocol was used at OPU; in Bangor clinical mentors were responsible for assessing students' performance in clinical practice as specified within the Clinical Practice Assessment Document.
