Data finally derived from 1,429 students were used in statistical analyses. First, cconfirmatory factor analyses were conducted to evaluate four factor models of the VFI. Our CFA results illustrated that the second-order factor model consisted of six factors, \"protective\", \"values\", \"career\", \"social\", \"understanding\" and \"enhancement\", provided the better fit to the data. This result implies evidence for cross validity of the VFI. Furthermore, significant mean differences were found in VFI total and six dimension scores. These findings indicated that the VFI could provide useful implications for promoting volunteerism in college
