The subjects were 258 patients in K hospital (144 males, 114 females; age-range 21-88, mean age 56.7). A 25-item illness-related anxiety checklist, generated from a review of available literature, was administered. Structure-equation modeling for statistical analysis was constructed to assess goodness fit, with validity achieved through confirmatory factor analysis. The secondary structure model consisted of five factors with 15 items. The results of confirmatory factor analysis revealed that the fit criteria were statistically significant (GFI=0.906, AGFI=0.868, CFI=0.945, and RMSEA=0.074). Intenal consistency of the 15 items was highly reliable (Cronbach's α =0.919). Concurrent validity was assessed using the locus of control scale.
