For this reason, we have developed the plates that show different shapes with the intention studying interaction between handling of spoon and the shape of the plates. The plates that we have used were three types with different height and steepness of slope between bottom of dish and flange. The first (1) that we used it as control have low height and less steep slope between bottom and flange. The second type (2) had steep slope, rather low height and clear edge at the junction between flange and slope. The third type (3) also had clear edge, curved slope that gradually increase steepness and the largest height of all. The blindfolded sight subjects were asked to eat a 250g pilaf on each of those plates without time limitation. The subjective measure revealed that they prefer those dishes in the order of (3),( 2), and (1) in terms of easiness of eating. The time necessary for collecting and scooping the last 50g pilaf with spoon was the shortest in plate (2) and significantly shorter than that of plate (3).
